Welcome to
the Lane End Players

Our drama group has been in existence, with a brief gap, for over 50 years. Some members live in the village itself, but others come from High Wycombe, Marlow, Stokenchurch and even further afield. We put on four productions per year: two plays on a 2 weekend run in October and April; a pantomime over three week-ends in January; and a 2-night entertainment in June (usually musical).

For enquiries about joining the group, or wishing to go on a mailing list for details of future productions, please phone Georgie Brooks on 01494 483359 or Eve Berry on 01494 881152.

Our Committee

The Lane End Players committee is established by election at our annual general meeting each May. To contact the committee with enquiries, you can use the email address committee@laneendplayers.com.

Chairman - Kath Gill
  • Kath Gill
  • Chairman
  • Kath has been with the Players for a very long time during which she has directed everything from Summer Shows to Shakespeare; appeared as everything from Maid to Matriarch and when not otherwise engaged has propped, prompted, lit, stage managed, made-up, choreographed, set-painted, committeed and socialised.
Group Secretary - Eve Berry
  • Eve Berry
  • Group Secretary & Director Liaison
  • Eve has been a Player since 1980 and has turned her hand to acting, costuming, directing and producing. She is also the Box Office Manager, as well as being Group Secretary and Director Liaison. She has been producing plays since 1983, and particularly enjoys comedies and period plays. She feels that her greatest achievement was in 2000, when she produced & directed the technically and musically challenging 'The Phantom of the Opera' for the Millenium season.
Treasuer - Brian Maker
  • Brian Maker
  • Treasurer
  • Brian has been involved with the Players for nearly four years, now. He is now serving his second year as the group Treasurer, and he also has the unenviable position of Bar Manager for our productions.
Vice Chairman - Tash Berry
  • Tash Berry
  • Vice Chairman
  • Tash joined the Lane End Players when she was just nine years old. Since then, she has been in the chorus, a dancer, choreographer, producer and director. She particularly enjoyed directing Jekyll and Hyde and her favourite parts have been playing Ros in 'Moon Over Buffalo' and Sorel in 'Hay Fever'. She also enjoys playing principal boy in pantos.
Technical Liaison - Gary Sims
  • Gary Sims
  • Technical Liaison / Health & Safety Advisor
  • Gary joined the Players when he came to Lane End in 1983. After briefly mixing with the company on stage in chorus roles, he joined the technical team in 1985. He joined the committee in 1998 to provide technical liaison. Throughout this time the complexity of our technical equipment and the production demands from it have grown unceasingly and these show no sign of changing.
Village Hall Liaison - Sheila Keatinge
  • Sheila Keatinge
  • Village Hall Liaison
  • Sheila joined the Players for the 1983 Pantomime. She has done her bit off stage as stage manager, props etc but still prefers the privilege of being on stage. She particularly enjoys being a panto baddy. Having been Chairman of the Players for over ten years, she has cheerfully relinguished that role and is now the LEP representative on the Village Hall Committee.
Membership Secretary - Georgie Brooks
  • Georgie Brooks
  • Membership Secretary
  • Georgie joined in 1986 just in time to be cast as prompt for the panto! She has been on the stage in various roles such as Fairy Godmother, harassed housewife and timid spinster. Offstage she has been Stage Manager, Props and has also been seen behind the tea urn.
Events Coordinator - Tish Marshall
  • Tish Marshall
  • Events Co-ordinator
  • Tish has been a player for over 20 years and has played many varied parts from wicked witch to principal boy, Cowardesque roles to 'tart with a heart' characters. Enjoys directing but, due to work commitments, has recently been more involved with set design and men's costumes. She loves a good party so has fully embraced planning events for the raising of much needed funds!
Publicity & Workshops - Alan Rimmer
  • Alan Rimmer
  • Publicity, Workshops & Club Nights
  • Alan has been a member of the Players for five years and has acted various roles from panto Dame to a teddy bear. He has also taken on the role of Stage Manager and has also directed our stunning panto 'Cinderella' in 2010. He loves the buzz he gets from acting but also wants to concentrate more on producing and directing.
Margot
  • Margot Connor
  • Margot has been a member of Lane End Players since the early 70’s and has managed to avoid serving on the committee all this time! She started off back-stage pulling curtains and moving props, then graduated to the stage joining in the chorus and dancing for many pantomimes and summer shows and taking part in plays such as When We Were Married, Why Me, 84 Charing Cross Road, Pygmalion and Stepping Out. Margot is now mostly confined behind the green prompt screen at many performances as she is better at reading lines than learning them!
