October 1979 sees the Lane End Players remember the Frist World War with this popular commemorative musical
Oh! What a Lovely War is an emphasis on the perspective of ordinary soldiers and its use of crinolines and clown costumes, Oh What a Lovely War departed from previous portrayals of the First World War. The Lane End Players would go on to produce this show once again in 2011 but this first version in 1979 was an impressive portrayal of the musical by Joan Littlewood.
