Story

In 2005 the Lane End Players held their very first and only awards ceremony in an evening of fun, frolics and nostalgia

The idea was to hold an awards ceremony to look back over the many years of the Lane End Players and present awards (albeit slightly tongue in cheek awards) to those "deserving" individuals. It was a well produced evening that included a red carpet, impressive staging and plenty of videos (edited by Darren Crisp) that showed clips from many shows throughout the year.

The event was hosted by Peter Stokes who did a fantastic job even getting those in attendance to join in every time he uttered his catchphrase for the evening "Who's afta a DAFTA" which went down (probably went down even better than hoped thanks to the amount of alcohol consumed). The awards themselves were well thought out and were gold painted brushes (gets it...DATFA or daft as a brush). Members past and present filled the village hall and the awards were presented by members who have had a huge impact on the Lane End Players over the years.

Some of the more memorable awards included Best on stage drunk, won by Lou Jackson and of course the Lifetime Achievement Award won by Nigel Bacon. This was a very fun and enjoyable evening and well done to the Land End Players committee for their efforts and organisation. Lets hope we have another awards show one day...
