Description

Pantomime 2000 was yet another great success, this time centred around the story of Goldilocks and the Three Bears

This is not the most traditional pantomime story however Dave Bowden and this team along with a good script were able to produce another stunning LEP pantomime. This time the majority of the action was set in a circus with many of the cast dressed as circus performers from clowns to strongmen and even the evil Ringmaster. But of course the traditional elements of the story were there including the sweet Goldilocks and of course Daddy. Mummy and Baby Bear. This was yet another great panto to add to the ever growing list of LEP's super pantomimes and keeping up the tradition of delivering something brilliant for the audiences,

"Oh yes it is...still panto time"
(Bucks Free Press review by Archie Wilson)
It's well into Panto time now...oh yes it is! ... But you can still see Lane End Players Goldilocks and it's well worth a visit too.
Sunday saw a charity performance of this lively pantomime, a lovely gesture by this long standing and well thought of theatre company, giving a free performance to handicapped kids, Brownies and a fair smattering of grown up kids too.
Nigel Bacon has a tradition of excelling in pantos and this year was no exception. His Joey the Clown was extrovert, madcap and wonderfully funny, he had the young audience eating out of his hand from act one, scene one.
Libby Beck's Goldilocks was poised and suitably humble whilst Lou Jackson had the audience in fits as blowsy circus owner Sadie Spangle who desperately tried to combat the baneful manifestations of Nick Wyse as a magnificent Benjamin Black. Moustached, sinister and evil beyond words he had the young audience up on their seats on the point of mutiny.
Bob Connor, Phillipa Lee and Dominic Bowden as the Three Bears were cuddly and multi-talented. Leanne Harris was a seemingly surprised but utterly endearing Belinda the Fairy.
Take your kids to see this, they'll love it...so will you, come to that!
