Lane End Players win big at the Maidenhead Drama Festival
The Lane End Players are absolutely delighted to announce that we are winners of both the Lynda Whitworth trophy for the All-England Theatre Festival and the Biggs Drama Shield at the prestigious Maidenhead Drama Festival which took place from 29th March to 1st April 2023. Over the course of the festival, 10 theatre groups competed from all around incuding Maidenhead, Didcot and Runnymede (and of course good old Lane End) and overall the standard was high.
We entered the competition with our version of "Two" by Jim Cartwright, starring on stage Alison Hartnett and Ben Sansum and directed (and produced) by Ceri Nicolson. Not only that but we had a fantastci technical crew which consisted of Tom Sims (lighting) and Peter Humfryes (sound), not to mention Gill Fox and Tish Marshall on costume duty and our backstage crew of Rhiannon Nicolson, Lauren Cubitt, John Nicolson, Colin Fox and Erick Madrona, it really was a gorup effort and well done to all involved. We were also grateful at the number of our members who came along to support when we performed on the Saturday night.
But what next? Well, we now advance (along with Woking College Theatre who won the Open Class Maidenhead Adviser trophy) to the next stage of the All England competition, could we win again...watch this space!
